Just shy of a century old, Norton's Florist is an enterprise borne of friendship and family.
In 1921, Dr. J.S Norton, known for having the most beautiful garden in town, decided to try his green thumb at his own floral business.
He wouldn't go it alone.
Norwood Floral Company opened with his friend, Mr. Forney Renfroe, alongside him.
The two quickly made Norton's wife Josephine store manager, and it was she who kept the business blooming while J.S co-founded Carraway Methodist Medical Center.
Soon, the Norwood name was replaced by Norton's, and the shop was well on its way to becoming "Birmingham's Florist."
